10° Cancer 15’ at 2:13pm

This Full Moon is also a Blue Moon.  A blue moon can only happen when the first full moon of a month happens in the first few days of it and the month is long, allowing time for the Moon to make a full cycle inside one month.  A Lunar Eclipse is when the shadow of the Moon is on the Earth.  Eclipses  Eclipses are “path correctors” that open doors and invite us to come in, illuminating and stimulating areas of your life that needs your attention.  To check out the Partial Eclipse of the Moon at http://www.shadowandsubstance.com/

This is the cycle that celebrates the Moon. Your focus shifts from your mind to your emotions… from your head to your gut… and from your wants to your needs. It’s time to come home to your innermost self. The last time a lunar eclipse occurred at this degree was over 300 years ago in 1694.

Any retrograde Planet gives us a chance to correct things. During this full moon/lunar eclipse we have the planet Mars and Mercury retrograde (to read more about Mercury retrograde read the post before this one in my blog.) Mars retrograde during this lunation is helping us correct any misuse of energy from the past and give us the opportunity to heal our relationships with family. Mercury retrograde is asking us to rethink and or re-evaluate how we present ourselves in the world. He is asking: Are you ready to change and create a new you?

How to do a candle burning ceremony Full Moon Purging Preparation

  • Create a sacred space and arrange a time to perform the ceremony (preferably at nighttime and outdoors under the moonlight).
  • Write down on separate slips of paper the things you want to release or change.
  • Supply suggestions: fire proof cooking pot to toss the burning paper inside, candle with matches or lighter, water (to put out the fire afterwards), and smudge sticks for cleansing.

 Full Moon Purging

  •  Cleanse your sacred area with an opening prayer, a sage smudging, and/or by burning some incense. Invite your guides, angels, masters, or teachers to be at your side throughout the ceremony.
  • Light one or more candles. Look to the skies. Breathe in the night air.
  • One by one, read out loud the words you have written on each slip of paper. Set your intention to release the item/addiction/attitude from your life. Set it to fire and place it in the calderon. If you have a campsite barbecue or bonfire going that’s cool, just toss the slips of paper into the fire one by one. If you are doing this ritual with a group of others take turns reading your words. If these things are too personal to read out loud, read them silently to yourself. Just remember… our words have power. Saying – “Be Gone” audibly and loudly can be very freeing. Go ahead, howl at the moon if you’ve a mind to. Have some fun!
  • Thank the spirits. Be safe. Put out the fire.
